Disclaimer: Should any part of this blog entry seem wrong in the eyes of the Christian community, please do not hesitate to comment or alert any of the co-founders or people in authority. After all, all human beings have fallen and are prone to making mistakes, please do so to ensure that we will not preach false truths and thus stumble our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Also note that the sermon has been paraphrased to fit the medium in which it is presented in. We are NOT pastors, instead, we are Christians GUIDED BY pastors. So should any need whatsoever present itself to require pastoral advice, we will direct you to them.

(Sermon sourced from Trinity Christian Centre Adam Branch, Ignyte Youth Service 4th December, Sunday 2011)

Also, please DO NOT HESITATE to express your opinions and ask questions through the comments system, such that you may perceive the Word correctly

WARNING: DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A SUBSTITUTE TO CHURCH, THIS IS FOR ENRICHMENT AND EXTENDED CHRISTIAN GROWTH. Please treat it seriously for your sake

The Bible was written over a 1500 year span (From 1400 B.C. to A.D. 100) over 40 generations, by over 40 authors from different backgrounds (Kings, physicians, fishermen etc.) all in different places and times. (Asia, Africa, Europe) (Wars and Peace) (Dungeons, palaces etc.)

Each segment of the Bible carries an emotion, and sways from one to the next, and was even written in three completely different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

How can the Bible be so cohesive if it came from such a diverse group over a span of time that staggers the imagination?

It HAS to be God behind it. Especially with the prophecies and all.

So what Power does the Word have?

It has: Power to Convict.

That is, to convict us to walk in the Light; on God's path to Heaven and to Himself.

Psalm 119:36-37 (NIV)
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. [37] Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

Also, to convict the heart, resulting in a change in our lifestyle, habits, and personality.

2 Kings 22:11 (NIV)
When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.

EXPLAINED: The Law, i.e., The Word, convicted the heart of Josiah and brought him to confess his and Judah's sins and repent before God.

Lastly, to convict us to believe that miracles, signs and wonders can happen.

Acts 3:6 (NIV)
Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."

The Passion For The Word
=============================

We have to have a passion for the Word!

Psalm 119:14-15, 168 (NIV)
I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.

The passion for the Word must be grown! And we must have that passion to read and obey the Word.

Ask Yourself: Are you growing in your passion for the Word?

It cannot be just some ritual.

You have to step forward, even in your diligence, if you are. Do you read for reading, or do you feel the lifechanging power of the Word?

The Bible is NOT just a list of to-dos or laws.

John 1:1-5 (NIV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was with God in the beginning. [3] Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. [4] In him was life, and that life was the light of men. [5] The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

The person of the Word is Jesus.
Know Jesus by knowing the Word.

And then experience the infinite power of the Word.

If you have any questions or comments, do post them here and we will try to the best of our ability to answer them. If there are, however, questions in which we alone cannot answer, we will direct you to a pastor.

After all, the biblical way a sermon is presented is a two-way conversation and not one that is one-way, so do post your views, comments etc.

PS: THIS IS NOT OUR SERMON. Source is stated above

ALSO. We are looking for more people to help format the sermons, or even come up with them. Do PM Distilda to show your interest and we'll get back to you c:
