1 Samuel 17
[link]Champion: To be inbetweenGod's champion establishes God's kingdom by bridging between God's will and desire and what is.
David was a champion of God
Goliath was a champion of war
We are all called to be Champions! We are called to bridge the gap between God's will and what is!
You can bring change and stand between.
Consequentially, YOU are God's champion, in all things. Since Jesus is with you.
And God has a good plan for you!
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. And He has a plan for you
-RIGHT NOW-! So you are a Champion
-NOW-!

Postures of Faith1 Samuel 17:3 (NIV)
The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.Hills are a tactical advantages in war
Both nations kept it safe, they were at a stalemate for 40 days
David didn't. He ran towards the battle in Faith.
1 Samuel 17:48 (NIV)
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.Ask Yourself: Have you been staying on your hill and keeping it safe? Salvation of friends? Education? We need to be vulnerable, else we'll lack in apostolic fulfillment, because you -have- to step out of your comfort zone in faith to succeed!
A champion partners with God to make the what is, into what God wants.
-------------------------------------------
Ask Yourself: Will you avail yourself for God?Because Israel didn't.
1 Samuel 17:24 (NIV)
When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear.David did.
1 Samuel 17:26 (NIV)
David asked the men standing near him, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?"
1 Samuel 17:34 (NIV)
But David said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock,We can if God can. Because as long as we align to His will, He will be faithful and will go with you.
-------------------------------------------
Of course, this faith will be challenged and questioned. But you have to persevere.
1 Samuel 17:28-31 (NIV)
When Eliab, David's oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, "Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle." [29] "Now what have I done?" said David. "Can't I even speak?" [30] He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before. [31] What David said was overheard and reported to Saul, and Saul sent for him.David persevered while Israel's faith crumbled.-------------------------------------------
1 Samuel 17:3 (NIV)
The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.
1 Samuel 17:4-7 (NIV)
A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall. [5] He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels ; [6] on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. [7] His spear shaft was like a weaver's rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.
1 Samuel 17:38 (NIV)
Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head.
1 Samuel 17:51 (NIV)
David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.The armies trusted in earthly vessels and weapons and ways.
David trusted in God
1 Samuel 17:37 (NIV)
The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." Saul said to David, "Go, and the Lord be with you."
1 Samuel 17:39 (NIV)
David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. "I cannot go in these," he said to Saul, "because I am not used to them." So he took them off.
1 Samuel 17:45 (NIV)
David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.Only if you avail yourself, will you see transformation.
Ask Yourself: What is it that -you- want to do for God this year? What does God want you to do this year? What changes or breakthroughs do you want to see in your life this year? Those who trusted in earthly things did not change their situation. David transformed the situation and established God's kingdom.
There is no 100% solution. If you want to see a change, persevere and keep trying.
Because victory and salvation, is a process.
Jesus sacrificed such that you would be able to.
Ask Yourself: Will you?Keep looking towards what God desires and embrace the path to the journey towards the victory
The greatest way to understand and learn faith is to grow under authority.
Honor authority!
In technicality, if God is with you, you are effectively invincible!
Honor your authority!

If you have any questions or comments, do post them here and we will try to the best of our ability to answer them. If there are, however, questions in which we alone cannot answer, we will direct you to a pastor.
After all, the biblical way a sermon is presented is a two-way conversation and not one that is one-way, so do post your views, comments etc.
